A Publisher at Last

After waiting for weeks for a reply from a couple of publishers, I sent my manuscript to a firm I’d only recently discovered: Austin Macauley in London. What astonished me was the speed with which they got back to me. Three and half weeks after I submitted the manuscript, I received a strong commendation from their executive officer Paul Taylor. His Editorial Board commented on my ‘assured writing style … and clarity of the arguments’. Ultimately, they said, the work ‘is a worthy addition to the genre, and it would have a place in the market.’

This happened just before Christmas 2022 and I hastened to sign up. This was a contributory contract; by the time I had completed the formalities I was so exhausted that on Christmas Day I had to drive myself home halfway through the festivities and put myself to bed. I survived, and through January the preparation of the manuscript began. By May the typesetting and design was done and the book was ready to print.
